Recently, 14 year old Sophie Fox competed in Melbourne’s International 3 Day Event. This event comprises a Trot up and Vet Check, Dressage Phase, X-Country Phase and ends with Show jumping on the last day. This event is only open to competitors that qualify to compete and as it is an International Event, attracts top competition from all over the world. The classes consist of Junior 1*, 1*, 2* and 3* with 3* being Olympic level.
Sophie did extremely well riding her “best ever dressage” on her horse Practice Makes Perfect (aka Wally) and coming 7th after this phase, clear Cross Country putting her into 5th place, but dropped back to 14th after knocking a few rails in the Show jumping. An amazing effort especially considering that 14 is the minimum age to enter the Junior 1*, Sophie still has plenty of time at this level.
